Romanian telecommunication is under
modernization, but it is comparable to services provided by Western
telecommunication companies. ROMTELECOM is the national
telecommunication company and still holds monopoly in stationary
telecommunication, but more and more companies are coming in
the market. Romania has well-developed network of GSM mobile
telecommunication.
There are currently four important competing operators Vodafone (former
Conex), Orange, Zapp and Cosmote. They have roaming
agreements with
most of the countries in Europe and North America.
